The genesis of this blog lies in a personal life-change: my wife’s shift from working at home, four days a week, to working in an office, five days a week. Our daughter, Rowan,  is two-and-a-half and I could see her life story slipping through our hands, now that my wife, Jo, is not around the house so much.

So I guess that this blog is an attempt to preserve this time, for Jo and anyone else who might be interested. Not so much for the big things as the little things, like when she scrawled felt-tip across her neck and wandered around looking like she’d slit her throat, or when she made a  ‘caterwiller’ out of a line of cheerios on the high chair, or when I asked her if she wanted to come and see some animals at the zoo, and she shook her head and said ‘No, animals here,’ indicating the Lego.

Of course, there are also the more frustrating moments, like when she refused to go swimming instead retiring to our bed to rip outthe pages of Peter Rabbit (well, she was happy enough);but even then it wasn’t long before she was back playing with the dinosaurs in her fairy wings. And I thought: I should take a picture, but there was no camera.

So these are my pictures for you, because you’re not here.
